9/11/24-Why you NEED an Esthetician

This very first blog post is all about perspective. I can count on one hand how many of my friends or associates have ever seen an esthetician. And no, I’m not counting them seeing me for services.
Allow me to paint you a picture. You need a haircut, or braids. You’ll reach out to your barber or stylist. For a mani/pedi, you'll find your local nail shop. Maybe if you're feeling like spoiling yourself and want or need a full body massage, you would probably call your nearest spa/full service salon.
Wait….now you need….s k i n c a r e.
Your cleanser is low.
That face scrub you've been using has you a little dry.
You're scraping the bottom of that tub of ponds.
Where do you go? Easy. I’ll grab some at Sephora. Maybe Ulta...Yeah, Ulta can be cheaper, plus their rewards program is better, right?
You know what? I’ve gotta get groceries, I’ll just grab some new things in W a l m a r t.
So off you go, through the little beauty care aisle in your local drugstore or grocer.
You see some cleansers... hmmmm Cerave, I’ve heard of that, but what about Clean and Clear? Neutrogena? Palmers? Image? Cocokind? Thayers? La Roche Posay? Whatever, I’ll take this one that says its or dry skin since my face has been kind of dry.
Moisturizer….hmm, you know what, that Ponds ran out too fast. I’ve got a friend who uses Cocoa Butter, lets try that out...since I need all the moisture I can get.
I’ll be honest, there’s lots of different ways this story can go. Maybe you decide on Ulta, but you don’t ask the Skin Therapist there for help. “She just wants to sell me something.”
“All the products ‘on that side’ are expensive, and I don’t even know if they’ll work.”
Maybe you choose Sephora, but are so overwhelmed by the flawless faces of the beauty advisors and some SHOCKworthy price points you call a friend for help or, worse, leave with nothing.
An Esthetician will change this story for you. An Esthetician has spent countless hours learning about skin, touching skin, learning ingredients, being a master at customizing your skincare plan through, analyzing conditions, climates, and protocols to bring your best skin to the party. Not to mention, an Esthetician will likely become your new best friend. Time spent with one will give you control over your skin’s health and beauty, and the power to make more educated decisions about what you put in and on your body.
So be honest...that story...was that you? IS THAT YOU? Put that damn coconut oil down! When you're getting a new look on your hair and nails, how DARE you skip your own skin? Go SEE an Esthetician for a facial. (its a healthy addiction) Learn about your skin and its unique needs. Stop making excuses.
Don’t know where to find one? Use your social media, or even just google “Estheticians near me” Pro tip: You can usually find one in the same places you would go for massages or in full service salons.
Have you been to an esthetician? How did you find them? If NOT-- tell me what’s stopping you!
